The War Room is a place where military operations of war
are discussed, planned, coordinated and monitored. The military operations that
we speak of in this War Room are those which involve the fight for the salvation
of souls. The military that we are part of is the third division of the Catholic
Church. The Catholic Church teaches that the three divisions are:
1. The Church Triumphant. (Those souls in heaven)
2. The Church suffering. (Those poor, holy souls in purgatory)
3. The Church Militant. (You and me here on earth)
There are many who would quickly dismiss the idea that we
are involved in a fight for the salvation of souls. But as you look back through
the history of Christianity you will discover that the reality of a battle for
souls has always been understood. The Catholic Church has always recognized and
preached about this. The accounts in sacred scripture are also clear.
Our battle is
not with flesh and blood, but
against the principalities, against the
powers, against the world rulers of this
present darkness, ... Ephesians 6:12
Webster's dictionary defines war as, "any active
hostility or struggle." That definition describes what each of us is going
through every day of our lives. There is a very real presence of hostility
directed toward our souls and it is coming from those principalities and powers
of darkness.
“Be sober, be
watchful. Your
adversary the devil prowls around like
a roaring lion, seeking someone to
devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
The Catholic Church teaches us that the three sources of
temptation are:
1. The World.
2. The Flesh.
3. The devil.
No one escapes the reach of these temptations. They attack
in one form or another. We all have weak human nature and we are all hated by
the enemy. We are all targets! We do grave damage to ourselves and to those
around us if we do not take this fight seriously.
We hope that what you find here in the War Room will
inspire and challenge you to,
“Resist him (the enemy) firm in your faith,…” 1
Peter 5:9
In the end, our eternal outcome will be determined by us.
We are the deciding factor. We have been given the power of free will! You and I
choose daily, whether we are going to "fight the good fight," or whether we will
fold... and give ourselves up into the hands of the enemy, be it the world, the
flesh or the devil.
