Harry Potter Meets His Dark
Material continued
In this present day and age there are many who have
very little or no understanding of the teachings of our Lord. Many
Catholics don't even know the difference between mortal and venial
sin. Do you? Does your child? Countless, poor souls do not even know
the three conditions necessary for something to be a mortal sin! (para.
1857-1860 CCC) This should be taken very seriously. This has to do
with our salvation as well as the salvation of our children. It is
easy to think that we will simply trickle into heaven as long as we
are not too bad here on earth. But it is important to know that God
does not accept mediocrity. Consider this. Do you know what the most
powerful prayer on earth is? It is the HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS!
The holy mass is the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary. Many do not
even know that this is a prayer. At each and every mass there are
countless angels that descend down around the altar at the moment of
consecration. It is unfortunate and sad that many Catholics do not
know what happens at the moment of consecration. The bread and wine
change 100% into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ!
Most of the young people that I speak to around the country DO
...NOT ...KNOW ...THIS! But many of them are learning about magic
and witchcraft from things such as Harry Potter. And now the
indoctrination of atheism is at the door will the trilogy “His Dark
Materials.” Phillip Pullman, the author of this trilogy, is a card
carrying atheist who has admitted that he wrote these three books
which are thick with anti-God ideas, largely because he detests the
Chronicle of Narnia for their Christian overtones. This is his
response. Will you support him in this?
I realize that to some this may seem a bit extreme,
but before you brand me as out of touch and one who needs to get a
life consider what our Lord says is necessary for us to enter into
everlasting life. In Mt 19:16, 17 Jesus tells us that to enter into
everlasting life we need to keep the commandments. Do you know them?
Do your children know them? I mean really know them. Are we being
faithful to God.
Why would you take the chance of introducing magic,
witchcraft or atheism as positive things, into the lives of your
children? What happens when your child comes home one day and tells
you that they have found a new friend? This friend claims to be a
wizard or witch or they think that a loving almighty God is a
ridiculous joke. This friend has invited your child to a little get
together of friends and some of these friends claim to be wizards,
witches or atheists too. What are you going to say? If they have
been into Harry Potter or the many TV shows, movies and games
dealing with and approving of magic, witchcraft and/or atheism, then
you have already shown them that there is nothing wrong with this
paganistic or secularist belief. What will you say now if up to now
you have kept your mouth shut and/or even condoned these ideas? We
need to understand that what we entertain ourselves with affects our
spiritual and mental development. Unfortunately there are many who
simply don't care about this. But if you are giving this type of
material to your children then you are investing something into
there lives and yours, that has the potential to be very, very
destructive. Possibly, eternally destructive! Are your children
armed with the weaponry of God? Do they know of the sacraments,
prayer, the rosary, the saints? What about sacramentals, the word of
God or the love and mercy of God? How can any of us, or our
children, expect to stand in the midst of temptation, of any sort,
without these most powerful weapons?
Consider what you want to invest or introduce into
the minds and souls of your children. What do you want to introduce
into your own mind and soul? Does it honor and serve God? Here are
some great words to remember. 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you
eat or drink, whatever you do, do all for the glory of God.” On the
day that you die you will stand before God and be accountable for
all that you did in this life. What are you doing to prepare for
that day? What are you doing to help prepare your children for the
day that they will die? It’s an awesome responsibility. May we never
forget to pray daily for the guidance needed. |
